Meguro River Winter Illuminations 2024 takes place in an area between Gotanda Station and Osaki Station in Tokyo.

The illuminations see the trees that line the Meguro river transformed into a line of cherry blossoms that bloom and shine in winter, with pink LED lights.

The aim of the event is to foster affection and pride for the town, making use of the town’s scenic resources.

Meguro River Winter Illuminations aims to light up the illuminations with 100% in-house power generation.

The energy to power the lights will come from used cooking oil from restaurants and other establishments in the area. With the cooperation of local residents, the collected cooking oil will be upcycled it into biodiesel fuel.

The illuminations will be switched on from 17:00 to 22:00 daily.
