What to expect at Kurimoto Furusato Sweet Potato Festival 2024

You’d struggle to name a better way to enjoy the taste of autumn than a freshly roasted sweet potato!

Katori City is famous for its sweet potatoes and the festival celebrates this by slow roasting a field full of delicious “Silk Sweet” sweet potatoes on piles of rice husks.

Events include free steamed or slow roasted sweet potatoes and a potato digging experience where you can take home your own freshly dug sweet potatoes.

There will also be music performances, dance shows, games and a sweet potato shrine to visit.

The festival will have a large selection of food trucks available including favourites such as french fries, fried chicken and onigiri.

In celebration of the event crepes made with sweet potatoes from Katori City will also be on sale.
