What to expect at Hirosaki Neputa Asakusa Festival 2024
Based on the well known Neputa festivals held in Aomori and Hirosaki, the Hirosaki Neputa Asakusa Festival brings the party to the capital, with the intention of showing the traditional festival to tourists/visitors to Japan.
Large ornate paper floats parade the streets of Asakua that surround Senso-ji Temple, set to a backdrop of traditional music and drums.
Floats are designed and painted to depict scenes or figures from Japanese mythology and history.
The parade is best enjoyed at night when the floats are lit from within like lanterns.
