Find out the most popular anime series of the Fall 2024 season in Japan

With 2024’s fall anime season well under way, the top 10 series in Japan so far have been announced.

Ranked based on views on popular streaming service “Niconico”, the rankings cover views for on demand and live broadcasts.

So, let’s count down the top 5 before we reveal the full list of the top 10 anime series of fall 2024 in Japan.

Fifth Place

In fifth place is Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 3rd Season, which sees protagonist Subaru continue his journey after being summoned to another world.

Fourth Place

In fourth place is 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, based on the series written and illustrated by Yu Hashimoto.

The series follows an ordinary high school boy, Masamune Okumura, the president and only member of his schools manga club, who also loves the 2D character Liliel. Masamune’s life takes a twist when a freshman, Lilysa Amano, joins the club and reveals her love for both cosplay and Liliel.

Third Place

The third most popular anime in Japan in the first two weeks of the fall 2024 anime season was “The Idolmaster Shiny Colors 2nd season”.

Based on the popular smartphone game “The Idolmaster Shiny Colors” which was launched in 2018 as part of the “The Idolmaster” series, the games It has been downloaded over 6.5 million times.

The series has also been widely expanded to include live events, goods, CDs, radio, and more.

Second Place

The title of second most popular fall 2024 anime in Japan goes to Blue Box, a series which has been in “Weekly Shonen Jump” since 2021, and has a total circulation of over 5 million copies.

Blue Box mixes romance and sports, with Taiki Inomata, a student at Eimei Junior and Senior High and member of the boys’ badminton team trying to balance love and sporting ambition as he falls for Chinatsu Kano, who is on the girls’ basketball team.

First Place

The most popular anime in Japan at the start of the fall 2024 anime season is none other than Dandadan.

Based on the manga by Ryuu Yukinobu, which has seen over 3.2 million copies published, the series follows Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura as they battle both paranormal and extraterrestrial threats.
