Pom Pom Purin takes over popular sightseeing train in Kyoto

Kyoto Tango Railway will be holding a collaboration project with Sanrio’s popular character “Pom Pom Purin” called “Go Out with Pom Pom Purin! Exciting Tango Adventure!”.

From Saturday, October 26, 2024, to Saturday, January 25, 2025, a specially wrapped train featuring designs of Pom Pom Purin and other characters will be in operation.

The Kyoto Tango Railway, also commonly known as Tantetsu, is a railway system operated by Willer Express that spans Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures.

The Kyoto Tango Railway offers views of the coastline and mountains of Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures, with many visitors using the railway line to visit Amanohashidate, where one of the “three views of Japan” is located.

The Pom Pom Purin Tango Outing Train will operate on the Kyoto Tango Railway Miyamai Line, which goes from Miyatoyo Line Nishi-Maizuru Station to Toyooka Station.

The train features original illustrations of Pom Pom Purin and friends carrying pouches inspired by Tantetsu Railway’s trains.

In addition, one-day passes with original perks and original merchandise will be on sale, and character panels will be installed at some stations along the trains route.

The Go Out with Pompompurin! Exciting Pass is a one day pass that will allow access to not only the Pom Pom Purin Tango Outing Train but also all of the Kyoto Tango Railway’s local and rapid trains.

If you plan on using the Tango Aka-matsu train you will need to purchase separate limited express and boarding tickets, as this is not covered by the Go Out with Pompompurin! Exciting Pass.

The Go Out with Pompompurin! Exciting Pass will be on sale from Saturday, October 26, 2024 to Saturday, January 25, 2025 and will be priced at 2,000 yen for adults and 1,000 yen for children.

You will be able to purchase the Go Out with Pompompurin! Exciting Pass from most major stations on the Kyoto Tango Railway, however we would recommend consulting the official website in the event of any changes to purchase locations.

Finally, there are plans to sell official goods featuring original illustrations of Pom Pom Purin wearing the Tango Railway uniform.

Sales of the Pom Pom Purin x Kyoto Tango Railway official goods will begin on the 28th of October, with multiple sales locations throughout stations on the line.
