What to expect at Minoh Momiji Festival 2024
Minoh National Park celebrates the autumn season in a grand way with over 3 weeks of planned events for the Minoh Momiji Festival.
Forest Yoga
One of the main events during the Minoh Momiji Festival is the scenic forest yoga, where you can enjoy a relaxing yoga experience while viewing the illuminated autumn leaves at night.
Two course types are available on the following days:
9th November 2024 – 17:00-19:00 Relaxing Yoga
16th November 2024 – 17:00-19:00 Gentle Yoga
24th November 2024 – 17:00-19:00 Relaxing Yoga
30th November 2024 – 17:00-19:00 Gentle Yoga
1st December 2024 – 17:00-19:00 Gentle Yoga
Forest yoga will take place at Saikoji Shodenkaku, which is located 5 minutes walk from Hankyu Minoh Station.
The event is open to women aged 18 and over. The capacity is 15 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participation fee is 1,500 yen. Requirements are comfortable clothing and a yoga mat, which are available for loan on the day.
Forest Therapy
Soak in the healing power of nature with a quiet forest walk and hammock experience. Rejuvenate your mind and body through a guided visit to Katsuo-ji Temple.
The forest therapy event will be held on the 16th & 30th November 2024 from 10:00-14:30. The schedule for the day is as follows:
09:00-10:00 Reception begins at Katsuo-ji Temple
10:00-12:00 Participate in the “Mino Forest Therapy” program
12:00-13:30 Lunch break
*Free Herbal tea will be provided at lunchtime.
*Paid lunch option “Autumn Seasonal Lunch Box” 1,500 yen can be prepared in advance with reservation only.
13:30-14:30 Guided visit to the Katsuo-ji Temple grounds
Forest Therapy is to be held at Katsuo-ji Temple Garden and Grounds which is accessible by bus from Minoh Kayano Station on the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line.
The capacity for the event is 15 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis. Comfortable clothing and a packed lunch are a must.
Participation fee is 3,000 yen and is open to adults aged 18 and over.
Autumn Illuminations
Experience the beauty of autumn as Ryuanji Temple, Katsuo-ji Temple, Saiko-ji Temple and Minō Falls are all illuminated at night.
Footlights will be set up along the path from Minoh Station to Minoh Otaki waterfall to gently light the walkway and spotlights will illuminate the surface of the Minoh River and surrounding trees.
Ryuan-ji Temple and Saiko-ji Temple will be lit up and lights will be set up along the path, creating a fantastically lit waterfall path at night.
In addition, from 9th to 24th November 2024, the Minoh Park Management Office will be hosting an event to light up the autumn leaves in front of Ryuan-ji Temple’s Houo-kaku and the Insectarium.
Guided Hikes
There will be two guided hikes taking place over the festival which will be ran by volunteers.
Hike 1
The first hike centres around Minoh River Dam, with a walk through its surrounding Carpinus forest which turns red in autumn.
The course will take the group around the following trail of around 11km- Minoo Station – Saigahara Forest Road – Masanochaya – Around Minoh River Dam – Hitome Senbon.
Hikers will be meet in front of Hankyu Minoo Station on Saturday 9th November 2024 at 9:40. No reservations are required and the hike is free to participate in.
Hike 2
The second hike takes place around Katsuo-ji Temple.
The course will take the group around the following trail of around 11km: Minoo Kayano Station – Ioiwa – Shirami Jizo – Katsuo-ji Temple (paid admission) – End at Katsuo-ji Temple Otorii.
Hikers will be meet in front of Hankyu Minoo Station on Friday 18th November 2024 at 9:40.
Other events
A photo contest will be held over Instagram aimed at of capturing the excitement of Minoh National Park during autumn, with the opportunity to win exclusive prizes.
Attendees can participate in a digital stamp rally which will also be taking place over the event, with the theme of enjoying Minoh in autumn.
Finally, a special autumn viewing of Ryuanji Temple and Grounds will be taking place from 16th November to 1st December, 10:30-16:00 (last entry 15:30).
Entry will be priced at 500 yen for adults, 300 yen for elementary, middle and high school students and free for children under elementary school age.
