What to expect at Marunouchi Illumination 2024

The Marunouchi area of Tokyo is transformed into a winter wonderland over the Christmas period with illuminations, ice skating and a Christmas Market.

2024 sees the Marunouchi Illuminations’ 23rd year, with the area around Tokyo Station and the 1.2km-long Marunouchi-Nakadori Avenue decorated in champagne gold lights.

Approximately 820,000 LED bulbs will be used to light up almost 300 trees that line the area.

Gyoko-dori Avenue, the area between Tokyo Station and Marunouchi-Nakadori Avenue, will have an outdoor ice skating rink set up from the 28th November 2024 until the 24th December 2024,

One of the most exciting events at the Marunouchi Illuminations is “Marunouchi Street Park” where around 500 meters of Marunouchi-Nakadori Avenue are turned into a Christmas market, complete with stalls selling festive goods and food trucks with specially designed Christmas menus.

The market will run from the 28th November 2024 until the 25th December 2024 from 11:00 until 22:00.

There will also be an exclusive “Marunouchi Bright Holiday” event taking place at Marunouchi Building 1st Floor Maru Cube.

The event will feature a collaboration with Super Mario and will include a holiday themed lighting and video display.

The collaboration takes place from the 14th November 2024 until the 13th January 2025, from 17:00-21:00 each day, with screenings happening every 15 minutes.

When will Marunouchi Illumination 2024 take place?

Marunouchi Illumination will take place from the 14th November 2024 until the 16th February 2025.

Illuminations will be lit from 16:00 – 23:00.

*From December 1st to December 31st illuminations will be lit from 16:00-24:00.

Marunouchi Illumination is free to attend.

How do I get to Marunouchi Illumination 2024?

Nearest Station: Marunouchi Illumination is best accessed from Nijūbashimae Station using the Chiyoda Line.

The event can also be reached from Tokyo Station using the Marunouchi Line, Yamanote Line, Chūō Line (Rapid), Tokaido Line, Yokosuka Line, Keiyō Line, Keihin-Tōhoku Line or the Jōban Line.

Alternatively, Marunouchi Illuminations can be reached from Ōtemachi Station using the Chiyoda Line, Hanzomon Line, Marunouchi Line, Tozai Line or the Mita Line.
