What to expect at Midtown Christmas (Winter Lights) 2024

Tokyo Midtown is transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland for “Midtown Christmas”, with plenty for everyone to enjoy.

There will be illuminations, Christmas trees, ice skating, musical performances and a Christmas Market.

Illuminations

Multiple immersive illumination experiences will be set up for “Midtown Christmas 2024”.

The “Ensemble Lights” display will bring you the feeling of being in the middle of a winter wonderland, with around 240,000 soap bubble illuminations on display whilst snow gently begins to fall around you.

Illuminations will be set to music, with soap bubble effects taking place once every 6 minutes and snow effects once every 15 minutes.

*Soap bubble and snow effects will be available until Friday, December 13th.

The “Walk of Light” illuminations will run from the 14th November 2024 until the 24th February 2025.

Midtown Garden will be bathed in the warm glow of around 320,000 golden lights decorating the trees.

Sparkling and elegant, these illuminations are a staple of the Christmas season at Tokyo Midtown.

Christmas Trees

The outdoor garden area will feature a beautifully decorated real fir Christmas tree.

The grand tree will be decorated with gold and red decorations, as well as mirror ornaments scattered around the tree to create delicate sparkling beauty as you approach Tokyo Midtown’s entrance.

The Galleria location of Tokyo Midtown will be decorated in the theme of “Snow Gift”, intended to give a sense of the peace and beauty of Christmas.

There will be a feathery snow tree decorating the atrium area which is designed to look like falling snow.

The first floor of the Galleria will house the 4 meter tall Santa Tree, a specially designed tree structure decorated with 1,600 Santa Claus ornaments.

The Garden Terrace area will have an exclusive photo spot called the Snow Fall Forest, taking inspiration from a snow covered forest.

Ice Skating

From the 22nd November 2024 until the 24th February 2025, Tokyo Midtown will be home to one of Tokyo’s largest outdoor ice skating rinks.

Enjoy skating with a beautiful cityscape around you during the day, or experience the dynamic lighting at night.

Ice rink opening hours are 11:00-21:00 (last entry at 20:00).

Christmas Activities

A Christmas workshop will be held to create beautiful floral arrangements, making the most of branches pruned from Midtown Garden.

Workshops will be held on the 23rd & 24th November 2024, at 11:30, 14:00 and 15:30 – places must be booked in advance here.

To create a festive atmosphere there will be live music performances held on the 6th & 7th December 2024.

Performances will happen at 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00.

Christmas Market

Galleria B1 of Tokyo Midtown will be holding a Christmas Market for the duration of the Midtown Christmas event.

The market will run from 11:00 until 21:00 daily.

When will Midtown Christmas (Winter Lights) 2024 take place?

Midtown Christmas will take place from the 14th November 2024 until the 25th December 2024.

Illuminations will be lit up from 17:00 until 23:00.

*Some illuminations and the ice rink will be in place until 24th February 2025.

Midtown Christmas is free to attend.

*Workshops and ice skating are paid activities.

How do I get to Midtown Christmas (Winter Lights) 2024?

Nearest Station: Midtown Christmas is best accessed from Roppongi Station using the Hibiya Line or the Oedo Line.

You can also reach the event from Nogizaka Station using the Chiyoda Line.

Alternatively, Midtown Christmas can be reached from Roppongi-itchōme Station by taking the Namboku Line.
