What to expect at Doburoku Festival 2025

This is a harvest festival that takes place each autumn, where an offering of doburoku (cloudy home-brewed sake) is made to the gods by visitors of the shrine in prayers of a bountiful grain harvest, good health and fortune.

The doburoku is sanctified by priests and becomes “Omiki”, which allows it to be offered to Shinto gods by way of consumption.

Visitors to the shrine drink the sanctified doburoku in order to communicate with the gods to ask for good fortune in the year to come.
