What to expect at Diwali in Yokohama 2024

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Diwali in Yokohama, an event held to cultivate understanding and connections between Indian and Japanese culture.

The event is Japan’s largest celebration of Diwali.

A number of different events and seminars will take place at Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall to highlight Indian culture.

Displays of classical Indian dance such as Bharatanatyam, Odissi and Kathak, as well as performances of Bollywood dance and traditional music such as Sitar and Tabla will take place.

Seminars will also be held, covering topics such as the experience of Indian expats in Japan and the charm of Indian movies.

There will also be a number of exhibitors on the 1st floor selling Indian snacks, promoting traditional Indian crafts and encouraging tourism to India.

When will Diwali in Yokohama 2024 take place?

The event will take place at Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall on Monday the 4th of November from 18:00 to 21:00.

How much does Diwali in Yokohama 2024 cost?

Admission to the main hall is free.

Admission to the auditorium on the first floor where seminars will take place requires a donation of 1,000 yen.

Nearest Station: Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall is nearest to Motomachi-Chūkagai Station on the Minatomirai line (MM6).

Diwali in Yokohama 2024 can also be accessed via Nihon-ōdōri Station on the Minatomirai Line (MM5).

The Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall is also a 1km walk from Ishikawachō Station on the Negishi Line (JK4).
