Shinigami Style: Iconic anime DEATH NOTE gets new gothic fashion ring collection
Japanese fashion brand MAYLA has announced a collaboration with the iconic anime series DEATH NOTE, which will see the release of a gothic styled ring collection.
This will be MAYLA’s first joint venture with the DEATH NOTE series, with the fashion brand widely known for its anime collaborations which have included series such as Bungo Stray Dogs and Black Butler.
The first items to be released as part of the new DEATH NOTE collab will be a set of rings, released under MAYLA’s “ICONIQUE STORY RING OBJET” range.
With a gothic theme befitting of the aesthetic of the DEATH NOTE series, this collection of 6 rings incorporates elements of the series into unique wearable fashion items.
Elements such as apples, loved by the series’ Shinagami, are interwoven into the designs.
Another ring incorporates an eye motif, intended to recreate the “Shinigami Eyes” which are bestowed upon DEATH NOTE holders who make a deal with their Shinigami.
Fan reaction to the announcement of the collection has been overwhelmingly positive, with many singling out the rings that feature the engraved word “KIRA” and the DEATH NOTE ring as their favorites.
The ring collection will come presented in a special box, which will also include a presentation stand that allows collectors to display the rings.
A promotional image for the collaboration was released, showing the rings being worn by a model styled in a manner reminiscent of Misa Amane, a fan favorite character from the series.
MAYLA have also released artwork that indicates the ring collection is the first in a series of collaborative items that will be released.
The “DEATH NOTE: New World Clothes” collection will likely include future releases that see elements of DEATH NOTE incorporated into fashion pieces in MAYLA’s unmistakable style.
The DEATH NOTE x MAYLA “ICONIQUE STORY RING OBJET” is priced at 20,900 yen (tax included, approx. $143.63 USD/£108.14 GBP) and can be pre-ordered from the MAYLA website from the 12th of May, 2025, with delivery expected later in the year.
