Pizza Hut Japan announces 3 New Year’s lucky bags
Pizza Hut Japan will offer three incredibly value-packed “Lucky Bag” sets exclusively through their official app for a limited time from late December.
Fukubukuro, or lucky bags, are traditionally released around the New Year in Japan as a way for brands to attract customers and thank them for their patronage in the past year by offering bags of goods that offer great value.
Pizza Hut Japan’s 2025 lucky bag offering features three distinct sets: “Ume” (Plum), “Take” (Bamboo), and “Matsu” (Pine), each including an exclusive Pizza Hut original tote bag.
Each lucky bag is centered around the “Winter Lobster and Iberian Ham Half & Half”, an exclusive pizza made with “Double Shrimp in Lobster Sauce” and “Mille-feuille Camembert Iberico” which was released for the winter season in Japan.
Two sizes of each bag are available, a medium or large option that indicates the size of pizzas you will receive by ordering.
The first lucky bag set, “Ume” (Plum), comes with the “Winter Lobster and Iberian Ham Half & Half” as well as a Double Chicken Combo, which features two types of fried chicken and fries.
The Medium “Ume” set is priced at 4,500 yen (approx. $29.28 USD/£23.22 GBP) if collected from a store or 5,000 yen (approx. $32.53 USD/£25.80 GBP) for delivery, whilst the Large set is priced at 5,500 yen (approx. $35.79 USD/£28.38 GBP) for collection or 6,300 yen (approx. $40.99 USD/£32.51 GBP) for delivery.
The second Pizza Hut Japan 2025 fukubukuro is the “Take” (Bamboo) set, which as with the first set comes with the “Winter Lobster and Iberian Ham Half & Half” and a Double Chicken Combo.
The “Take” set also includes a “Pizza Hut Best 4” pizza, which incorporates the four most popular toppings across each quarter.
The Medium “Take” set is priced at 6,100 yen (approx. $39.69 USD/£31.48 GBP) if collected from a store or 6,500 yen (approx. $42.29 USD/£33.54 GBP) for delivery, whilst the Large set is priced at 7,900 yen (approx. $51.40 USD/£40.76 GBP) for collection or 8,700 yen (approx. $56.61 USD/£44.89 GBP) for delivery.
The third and final lucky bag on offer at Pizza Hut Japan this year is the “Matsu” (Pine) set, which objectively offers the most value, though you may need some friends to help you out as this bag contains 3 different pizzas.
The “Winter Lobster and Iberian Ham Half & Half” and “Pizza Hut Best 4” pizzas are joined by a “Deluxe” pizza, which is topped with bacon, onion, peppers and pepperoni.
The Medium “Matsu” set is priced at just 6,400 yen (approx. $41.64 USD/£33.02 GBP) if collected from a store or 6,900 yen (approx. $44.90 USD/£35.60 GBP) for delivery, whilst the Large set is priced at 8,200 yen (approx. $53.36 USD/£42.31 GBP) for collection or 8,900 yen (approx. $57.91 USD/£45.92 GBP) for delivery.
Each set comes with an exclusive original bag, which is sure to come in useful throughout the year as it is particularly large, making it useful for carrying items such as shopping or laundry.
If the lucky bag sets only contained the food items included and the bag itself, it could be argued that they wouldn’t be good value as in the case of the “Ume” and “Take” bags, you could actually purchase the food items separately at a cheaper price than the set, meaning you’d be paying an additional amount just to receive the bag.
Only with the “Matsu” set do the food items included exceed the value of the set, however each set becomes great value once you factor in one key point.
As a special New Year’s bonus, customers who order any of the 3 sets will also receive bonus points equivalent to one free pizza (40 slices) for use on their next purchase!
To gain the point bonus, you must make sure that you are registered with the Pizza Hut app before placing your order for the 2025 Lucky Bag.
Each registered account can only gain the point bonus once during the sale period and the bonus points must be used before the 31st of March 2025.
With points usually awarded at a rate of “1 slice” per 1,000 yen (approx. $6.51 USD/£5.16 GBP) spent, “40 slices” would normally take a total spend of 40,000 yen (approx. $260.27 USD/£206.40 GBP) to achieve, making this a superb bonus on top of the already generous contents of the lucky bags themselves!
The Pizza Hut 2025 Lucky Bag goes on sale exclusively via the Pizza Hut app from Thursday the 26th of December 2024 until Sunday the 5th of January 2025.
Stock may be limited and will be store specific – so make sure you order as close to the start date as possible!
