Get in the festive spirit, Shinji! Evangelion Christmas cakes launched in Japan

Japanese company PriRoll specialise in officially licensed sweets and desserts, often based on popular anime series.

After announcing their Jujutsu Kaisen Christmas cakes, PriRoll have added one of the most recognisable classic anime series, Evangelion, to their lineup of anime themed Christmas cakes for 2024.

8 different cakes will be available to choose from, each based on the series Rebuild of Evangelion films.

The Evangelion cakes will be available in 2 different flavours, whipped cream or chocolate, with both having a sweet and sour strawberry filling.

The cakes will be delivered frozen by well known courier Yamato Transport and each order will also come with a free badge of the design chosen, as with all other anime Christmas cakes available from PriRoll.

The image on each cake is printed on an edible sheet with edible ink, with some cakes featuring solo character images whilst others feature multiple characters together.

Let’s take a look at the 8 different designs that are available – leave a comment at the end of the article with your favorite!

First up is the series protagonist, Shinji Ikari, pilot of EVA-01:

Second in the collection is Rei Ayanami, who pilots EVA-00:

Third is fan favorite Asuka Shikinami Langley, pilot of EVA-02:

Fourth is the enigmatic pilot of EVA-05 and EVA-08, Mari Illustrious Makinami:

The fifth cake in the collection features none other than NERV and Wille’s Misato Katsuragi:

Sixth in the line-up is Kaworu Nagisa, the pilot of EVA Mark.06 and EVA-13 as well as the 13th Angel:

The final two cakes feature multiple characters, with both a Shinji and Kaworu themed cake and a Rei, Asuka and Mari cake completing the collection:

Each cake measures 15cm (diameter) x 7cm (height) and is priced at 5,670 yen (approx. $36.80 USD/£29.04 GBP), excluding shipping.

Orders for delivery inside Japan only can be placed via the PriRoll website, with limited delivery slots available in November and December.

Evangelion is still hugely popular both in Japan and overseas despite first hitting screens in 1995, so demand is expected to be high and it’s recommended to place orders as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
