Head to Tokyo Station for a delicious new Chiikawa collab
The popular series Chiikawa is joining forces with Tokyo Banana to create a limited-edition dessert.
Tokyo Banana is a popular “omiyage” – a gift or souvenir that is brought back from your travels, typically shared with family, friends or colleagues.
Previously voted the number 1 “omiyage”, or souvenir, that people had been gifted, Tokyo Banana is normally a banana shaped cake filled with a banana flavoured cream.
However, from November 5th to 18th, 2024, you can grab a special variety of this popular souvenir at the “Tokyo Banana Tree” shop in JR Tokyo Station.
The Chiikawa x Tokyo Banana collaboration sees the iconic banana shaped cake replaced with egg shaped cakes that feature adorable Chiikawa themed designs.
The classic banana cream normally found in Tokyo Banana is still present, but this time it has been paired with a delicious caramel flavoured cream, adding to the depth of flavor.
Six different designs feature on the super soft sponge cakes – with Chiikawa joined by friends Hachiware and Usagi, making them almost too cute to eat.
Collaboration products are often seen not only as practical items, but as collectables by fans of popular series, and the Chiikawa x Tokyo Banana collab will certainly be popular as it features exclusive original packaging.
Each cake is individually wrapped, with a design that shows Chiikawa and friends wearing Tokyo Banana themed headwear complete with ribbons.
Available in a 4 or 8 pack, those who purchase the 8 pack will receive one random original sticker of Chiikawa, Hachiware or Usagi.
All purchases of the Chiikawa x Tokyo Banana collaboration products will be presented in a specially designed commemorative bag, which you can either choose to keep or pass on to the recipient.
Packs of 8 will be priced at 1,706 yen (approx. $11.22 USD/£8.67 GBP), whilst 4 packs will be priced at 810 yen (approx. $5.33 USD/£4.11 GBP).
Available from 5th November to 18th November 2024, you can find the “Tokyo Banana Tree” shop inside the Yaesu Central ticket gates of JR Tokyo Station, which is open from 06:30-21:30 daily.
